Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is well-known for her stellar performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. From the time she was a child, she has been passionate about performing. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear. But she refused to let that hinder her progress as an actress. In her early years, she took classes in drama at the college level and then moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh to follow her dreams. Through a random encounter, she got trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which was Hunter's first performance. When she moved into Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged an acting role as a support on Swing Shift. In the three decades since then, Holly Hunter has been featured in a variety of television movies and series. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
